Matthew Kaner, a local musician who attended High Wycombe Royal Grammar School, has been selected to take part in BBC Radio 3's Embedded: Composer in 3 programme.
Matthew, who spent some of his gap year working with the NMO, will spend 70 days in-house at Radio 3, with the opportunity to "create regular short form works for frequent broadcast as part of the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of the Third Programme."
"I still have very fond memories of working with the New Mozart Orchestra. Above all, I think it taught me the value of establishing good working relationships with musicians: an absolutely invaluable skill for any successful composer! It also gave me insight into the more practical necessities of the day-to-day running of an ensemble, such as the need to rehearse within a very limited time frame, or the importance of having good quality performing materials. This sense of practicality really helped prepare me for the realities of professional life, so I’m still very grateful to the Clive and the orchestra for those experiences!"
