'MOZART26'
In June 2020 Clive Fairbairn, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of New Mozart Orchestra was sponsored to learn the solo piano part in Mozart's Piano Concerto No.26 to raise money for the work of Help Musicians UK which distributes funds to those musicians most in need of financial help and support, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic.
He raised over £4000.
Clive chose this particular piece in memory of his friend William Lee who was the soloist when Clive conducted the concerto in a concert in Ilford Town Hall, Essex in 1977 celebrating HMQ Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee; the concerto was chosen for its title, the 'Coronation Concerto'.
Clive recorded the result of his labours with a social-distanced quintet playing a reduced version of the orchestral accompaniment in a garden in Leighton Buzzard! He is very grateful to those players and to the many, many sponsors who supported him.
